Blockchain IP Protection

Register Your Creative Work in Minutes, Not Years

Blockchain timestamps and NFT certificates prove you created it first — permanently, affordably, and without a lawyer.

One PTC token registers one project. Permanent. Tamper-proof.

What You Get

Your work. Your proof. Permanent.

Protect The Content turns any creative file into a blockchain-backed ownership record. One token. One project. One certificate that lives on the chain forever — impossible to alter, impossible to dispute.

Blockchain timestamp

Your work is hashed and written to the PTC chain the moment you register. The date, time, and your identity are locked in permanently.

NFT certificate of authorship

A hexagonal gold certificate NFT is minted to your wallet — a public, shareable proof of authorship that travels with you.

Licensing management

Control who can use your work and under what terms. Issue licences, track usage, and protect your income — all from your Creator Dashboard.

PTC utility token

One PTC token unlocks one registration. No subscriptions. No per-seat pricing. No lawyers needed.

Protection Awareness

Stolen work is not rare. It's the norm.

Most creators only find out their work was stolen after the damage is done — after someone else has built a career, collected royalties, or sold rights that were never theirs to sell. By then, proving you were first is nearly impossible without a record that existed before the theft.

Where it happens most

Creative theft doesn't always look like plagiarism. It often looks like inspiration — until the royalty cheque lands in someone else's account.

Music

Melodies, beats, and lyrics registered by someone else before the original artist does

Film & Scripts

Concepts pitched to producers that reappear years later in finished productions — without the writer

Digital Art & NFTs

Artwork minted and sold as NFTs by bad actors, often before the original creator even knew NFTs existed

Written Work

Blog posts, essays, and books scraped, reformatted, and republished — sometimes on the same platforms

Creators with Disabilities

Disproportionately targeted — fewer resources, less industry access, and higher barriers to legal recourse

What protection actually means

No platform — including Protect The Content — can guarantee legal ownership on its own. But a timestamped, immutable blockchain record created before any dispute is one of the strongest tools you can have.

✓ What blockchain registration does

  • → Creates a tamper-proof record of your work at a specific date and time
  • → Documents that you possessed the work before anyone else registered it
  • → Provides a shareable certificate that travels with you and your work
  • → Gives you something concrete to show a lawyer, a platform, or a rights body

○ What it does not replace

  • — Formal copyright registration with the Canadian Intellectual Property Office
  • — A legal agreement or contract between collaborators
  • — Professional legal advice in an active dispute
  • — Platform-specific content ownership policies

We believe in being honest about what blockchain registration can and cannot do. Our goal is not to sell you false security — it's to give you the strongest, most accessible tool available to document that your work is yours.

Creator Protection Knowledge

Knowledge is your first layer of defence.

Protecting your work is not a one-time act — it is an ongoing practice. Here is what every creator using Protect The Content should know: how to protect yourself before anything happens, what to do if it already has, and why the urgency is real.

🛡️
Pillar 1 · Protect

Before anything happens — protect your work proactively

  • 1 Register first, share second Timestamp or register your work before posting it publicly anywhere — social media, portfolio sites, or collaboration platforms.
  • 2 Keep your originals with metadata Store your original files — uncompressed, undated — with their creation metadata intact. A RAW photo file, a Final Draft file, an unedited audio session. These are your evidence.
  • 3 Document your process Save screenshots, drafts, mood boards, and dated notes. A record of your creative journey is often more compelling than the final file alone.
  • 4 Use contracts for all collaborations Even with friends. Especially with friends. A simple written agreement that names who owns what before work starts prevents most ownership disputes.
  • 5 Watermark your previews Any work shared for review or pitch purposes should carry a visible watermark. Share full-resolution only after agreements are signed.
  • 6 Register formally with CIPO Canada's Intellectual Property Office offers formal copyright registration. While copyright exists automatically at creation, a CIPO registration creates a public legal record.
⚡
Pillar 2 · Act

If your work has been stolen — here is what to do

  • 1 Document everything immediately Screenshot the infringing content with timestamps visible. Archive URLs using a service like the Wayback Machine. Act fast — infringing content can disappear quickly.
  • 2 File a platform takedown notice Every major platform (YouTube, Instagram, TikTok, Spotify, Etsy) has a copyright infringement reporting process. In Canada, the "Notice and Notice" regime requires ISPs to forward your complaint.
  • 3 Send a cease and desist A formal written demand that the infringer stop using your work. Templates are available online; a lawyer can strengthen it. This often resolves disputes without going to court.
  • 4 Contact a copyright lawyer Many IP lawyers offer free initial consultations. The Canadian Bar Association's Lawyer Referral Service can connect you with one in your province.
  • 5 Consider Small Claims Court For smaller infringements, provincial Small Claims Courts allow you to represent yourself at low cost. Limits vary by province (up to $35,000 in Ontario).
  • 6 File with the Federal Court For significant infringement, Canada's Federal Court handles copyright cases and can award statutory damages under the Copyright Act — from $500 to $20,000 per infringed work.
⏳
Pillar 3 · Why Now

Why waiting is the most expensive thing a creator can do

  • 1 Theft is now automated AI scraping tools, bot accounts, and content-harvesting scripts operate continuously. Your work can be ingested, re-uploaded, or monetized within hours of posting — often before you notice.
  • 2 AI training datasets use your work Your images, writing, and music are being used to train commercial AI models without your consent or compensation. Registration creates a documented prior claim.
  • 3 First registration often wins In a dispute, whoever can document creation first has the advantage. Once someone else claims your concept, reversing that narrative is a years-long legal battle.
  • 4 Platforms favour registered rights holders YouTube Content ID, Meta's Rights Manager, and Spotify's content systems give preference to work with documented ownership. Unregistered creators lose those battles by default.
  • 5 Disability creators face higher risk Creators managing health challenges often share work while networking for support — in spaces where bad actors also operate. The vulnerability is structural, not personal.
  • 6 The cost of not protecting far exceeds the cost of protecting A single stolen project can cost years of legal fees, lost revenue, and emotional damage. A blockchain timestamp costs $10. The asymmetry is clear.

How It Works

From file to certified in four steps

No legal jargon. No waiting rooms. No intermediaries. You upload, we certify, the blockchain remembers.

01

Upload your work

Upload any creative file — audio, image, PDF, video, or document. Protect The Content accepts any format. Your file is encrypted and stored securely; only its cryptographic hash is written to the blockchain.

Supported: MP3, WAV, JPG, PNG, PDF, MP4, DOCX, and more
02

Add your metadata

Enter the title, description, creation date, and your creator name. This metadata is bundled with your file hash into a signed registration record.

Takes less than two minutes
03

Spend one PTC token

One PTC token authorises one registration. The token is consumed on-chain, permanently linking your identity to this creative work.

One token = one protected project
04

Receive your certificate

Your blockchain certificate is issued instantly — a hexagonal NFT badge showing your name, work title, timestamp, and block hash. Share it publicly or embed it in your portfolio.

Questions & Answers

Everything you need to know

Real answers to the questions Canadian creators ask before they register their first project.

No — and we're transparent about that. In Canada, copyright is automatic the moment you create an original work. You own it without filing anything. What Protect The Content does is give you documented, timestamped proof of when your work existed and who registered it. That proof is critical if you ever need to demonstrate prior creation in a dispute. For commercially important work, we recommend combining blockchain registration with formal CIPO filing.
Your file never leaves your device in its original form. We generate a cryptographic hash — a unique mathematical fingerprint of your file — and write that hash to the Polygon blockchain along with your name, registration date, and project title. The hash proves the file existed at that moment without exposing its contents. Your actual creative work stays private.
Our design principle is "1 Token = 1 Protected Creative Project." You pay for what you protect, not for access to a dashboard. This keeps it fair for creators who produce one major work a year, and scalable for those who create every week. Founding Members get discounted rates locked in for life — register early and your cost per project stays low forever.
Any digital file: music, visual art, photography, writing, scripts, screenplays, designs, logos, video, podcasts, software code, and more. If it's a file you created, we can timestamp it. The Polygon blockchain doesn't care what type of creative work it is — it records the fingerprint and the date, period.
Accessibility is a core design requirement, not an afterthought. Protect The Content is built to be usable from any device — no office visit, no physical paperwork, no complex interface. Screen reader compatible. Works on mobile. The entire registration takes under 5 minutes. We were founded with the disability creator community in mind and actively partner with disability-led arts organizations across Canada.
Permanently. Once a transaction is written to the Polygon blockchain, it cannot be altered or deleted by anyone — including us. It is a permanent public record. As long as the Polygon network exists (it has been running since 2020 and processes billions of transactions), your registration record exists. Your certificate is also stored in your Protect The Content dashboard and can be downloaded at any time.
Your blockchain certificate includes the exact timestamp, the cryptographic hash of your file, and your registered name — all publicly verifiable on the Polygon network. The blockchain record is the evidence. Anyone can independently confirm it matches your original file. In a dispute, that record is your starting point. For serious legal action, we always recommend engaging a Canadian IP lawyer who can advise on how to present this evidence in your specific situation.
Not at all. You don't need a crypto wallet. You don't need to buy any cryptocurrency. You don't need to understand how blockchain works. You upload your file, enter your project name, pay $10, and receive your certificate. We handle everything behind the scenes. The blockchain is the infrastructure — you just get the protection.
